Discover the Michael Cresap House

Son of the famous Colonel Thomas Cresap, Captain Michael Cresap built his stone house in Oldtown, Maryland about 1764, the year he brought his bride to the Allegheny Mountains.

Around the turn of the 19th century, a brick addition was added by John J. Jacob, who married Cresap’s widow. 

Over 260 years old, the home stands as a testament to the adventurous spirit of Western Maryland’s earliest settlers.
